5 corridor templates. No price in any of them.

For the goods trade-based laundering favours: what a corridor must band, which legs it must require, which must come from a party with no stake in the price, and what joins the legs. The pair brings the numbers and ratifies its own table; a template only checks its shape.

The templates

What each corridor must see, and what it cannot.

Every template ends with its limits. A corridor built from one inherits them, and so does every clear it signs.

HS 7108

Gold — bullion, doré and semi-manufactured

Very high value for its weight, refinable into anything, and priced by a grade that the paperwork can misstate while the weight stays honest.

Bands
quantity · unit price · grade priced per g or kg
Legs required
invoicecustoms · independentpaymentinspection · independent
Why independent
  • inspection (assayer, inspectorate): Fineness is the price of gold. Only a measurement by a party with no stake in the price can say whether 999.9 was shipped or 750 dressed as it.
  • customs (customs): The one declaration of weight and value the traders do not control.
Grade scale
fineness, parts per thousand: 585 750 916 995 999hallmark standards (14, 18 and 22 karat, the 995 good-delivery minimum, fine gold) - grades, not prices
Legs join on
Bar serial and refiner · Air waybill · Bill of lading
Tolerance ceiling
at most 1 band either side
Edges come from
mirror-negotiate or pair-agreed never from Mirror
Reaches
Over-invoicing · Under-invoicing · Misdeclared goods / substitution · Multiple invoicing · Carousel / round-tripping
Runs on
mirror-dims mirror-assay mirror-customs mirror-concurrent-exposure mirror-independence
Cannot see
  • An assay measures the bars it tested, not every bar in the consignment.
  • Refining erases identity: a bar serial joins legs only until the bar is melted.
  • A mispricing inside one fineness band and one price band is invisible.
HS 8703

Used vehicles — passenger cars

Individually identifiable, widely financed, and valued across a range so wide that a false price rarely looks false on its own.

Bands
quantity · unit price priced per pieces
Legs required
invoicecustoms · independentpayment
Why independent
  • customs (customs): Export and import declarations of a vehicle are filed against its VIN by parties with no stake in the price.
Legs join on
VIN and export date · Bill of lading
Tolerance ceiling
at most 1 band either side
Edges come from
mirror-negotiate or pair-agreed never from Mirror
Reaches
Over-invoicing · Under-invoicing · Multiple invoicing · Phantom / short shipment · Related-party mispricing
Runs on
mirror-dims mirror-customs mirror-concurrent-exposure mirror-related
Cannot see
  • A VIN proves which vehicle, not its condition; condition moves price inside a band.
  • Dealer networks trade within one ownership group - related parties agree a price by construction, which is why the related-party check matters here.
  • A VIN key joins only exports on the same date; re-exports need their own date.
HS 8517

Mobile phones and telecom equipment

High value, small, fast-moving, and tradeable in circles: the same consignment can pass through a chain of companies and come back, each hop an invoice.

Bands
quantity · unit price priced per pieces
Legs required
invoicecustoms · independentpayment
Why independent
  • customs (customs): Declared quantity and value at the border, compared against the invoice the payment settles.
Legs join on
Container (ISO 6346) and voyage · Air waybill · Bill of lading · Tax e-invoice id
Tolerance ceiling
at most 1 band either side
Edges come from
mirror-negotiate or pair-agreed never from Mirror
Reaches
Over-invoicing · Under-invoicing · Carousel / round-tripping · Multiple invoicing · Phantom / short shipment
Runs on
mirror-dims mirror-customs mirror-einvoice mirror-cycle
Cannot see
  • Model and specification spread makes a unit-price band wide - finer edges per model family narrow it.
  • A carousel is visible only when enough of the chain's banks are on the rail to close the cycle.
  • A tax-registered e-invoice fixes an invoice in time; it does not verify its price.

Textiles and apparel

Huge volumes of low-value lines, where quality and composition set the price and are easy to misdescribe - and a long history of re-invoicing through free zones.

Bands
quantity · unit price priced per pieces or kg
Legs required
invoicecustoms · independentpayment
Why independent
  • customs (customs): The classification and quantity declared at the border, independent of the traders' invoice.
Legs join on
Container (ISO 6346) and voyage · Bill of lading · Invoice composite · Tax e-invoice id
Tolerance ceiling
at most 1 band either side
Edges come from
mirror-negotiate or pair-agreed never from Mirror
Reaches
Over-invoicing · Under-invoicing · Misdeclared goods / substitution · Free-zone re-invoicing / transit manipulation
Runs on
mirror-dims mirror-customs mirror-chain mirror-einvoice
Cannot see
  • Quality and fibre composition inside one HS6 subheading are invisible without an inspection leg.
  • Each free-zone hop must be on the rail, or the chain is broken where it matters.
  • Pieces and kilograms are not comparable; a corridor ratifies one unit and refuses the other.

Ferrous and copper scrap

Priced by a grade that is hard to verify and a weight that is easy to overstate, often shipped in bulk on voyages the documents describe loosely.

Bands
quantity · unit price · grade priced per kg or t
Legs required
invoicecustoms · independentpaymentinspection · independent
Why independent
  • inspection (surveyor, inspectorate, weighbridge): Grade and weight are where scrap is misdescribed; a surveyor or weighbridge has no stake in the price.
  • customs (customs): The declared weight and value at the border.
Grade scale
metal content, percent: set by the pair from its own inspection contract - Mirror publishes no scrap grade scale
Legs join on
Container (ISO 6346) and voyage · Bill of lading · Vessel IMO, port and load date
Tolerance ceiling
at most 1 band either side
Edges come from
mirror-negotiate or pair-agreed never from Mirror
Reaches
Misdeclared goods / substitution · Over-invoicing · Under-invoicing · Phantom / short shipment
Runs on
mirror-dims mirror-assay mirror-voyage mirror-customs
Cannot see
  • Grade is contested even between honest inspectors - agree the inspection contract before the table.
  • A vessel key joins only a full cargo; a part cargo joins on its own bill of lading.
  • An AIS track proves where the ship was, not what it carried.

From template to a running corridor

A countersignature, not a six-month negotiation.

The steps run in this order, and each one is code: the handshake, the shadow run, the ceremony and the ratification. Nothing in them sends a price to anyone.

The whole life of a corridor
  1. 1

    Start from the template

The goods' template says what to band, which legs to require and which must be independent.

  2. 2

Find a table you both hold

Each bank signs the tables it already supports; both compute the same finest shared one, or a clean no_shared_table.

  3. 3

Try it on your own book

Shadow mode runs candidate tables over the bank's own legs and submits nothing: counts, and each table's blind spot.

  4. 4

Agree the terms and hold the ceremony

A charter, then both banks prove they loaded the same secret without sending it. A calendar hash ratchet is optional.

  5. 5

Ratify, with a start and an end

Quorum ratification, an effective time, and if wanted a valid_until after which the table judges nothing.

  6. 6

    Run, renew, retire

Band and reconcile; one ratified FX basis across currencies; zoom into one shipment by consent; renew as a new version.

What a template is not

Not a price list, and not Mirror's table.

Corridor templates for goods that trade-based laundering favours: what a corridor for each must band, which legs it must require, which of them must come from a party with no stake in the price, which identifiers join its legs, and which typologies it reaches. A template carries NO price, NO band edge and NO tolerance a pair did not ratify - Mirror invents no prices. The numbers that do appear are grade hallmarks (fineness in parts per thousand), which are standards, not prices. A pair ratifies its own table against a template; kernel/mirror-library.js validateProposal checks the shape of that table and never its values.

  • mirror-negotiate Each bank probes a shared grid of candidate price points from its own book; the jointly acceptable runs become the edges. Neither bank shows the other its book, and Mirror supplies no price.
  • pair-agreed The two banks agree the table between themselves, outside the rail, and record who chose it and from what (mirror-provenance).

The goal is a table an industry body ratifies and two banks both reference. Mirror holds templates and the hashes of tables the parties ratified; it never authors the numbers in them. See the open corridor-table standard and Boundary 2 of the register.
